DACA and Undocumented Students

The University of Minnesota has a strong commitment to educating and supporting a diverse student body—regardless of immigration status.

The Office of Admissions

The University of Minnesota welcomes applications from undocumented students and those with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status and evaluates their applications in the domestic applicant pool under a "need-blind" admission policy. "Need blind" means the admissions review team cannot access any information about your household income, like your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.

Minnesota Resident Scholarships

Study Away in the U.S.

DACA students are welcome to study away in the U.S. through the National Student Exchange. In the past, DACA students have exchanged to campuses in California, Florida, Hawaii, New York, Puerto Rico, and Texas.

Learning Abroad Support

Can I study abroad for work, research, or study? We encourage students to utilize the U of M’s DACA FAQ resource.

The Dream Fund

The Dream Fund provides modest grants to students impacted by immigration policy changes.

Student Legal Service

Student Legal Service (SLS) offers advice and representation in multiple areas. These services are available to University of Minnesota students paying the Student Services Fee at the Twin-Cities Campus and are limited to those outlined in our Policy Handbook.

Student Counseling Services (SCS) Affinity Group

Student Counseling Services (SCS) staff actively work to address forms of oppression in a culturally affirming manner and consider the impact of oppression for students who seek services at SCS. SCS hosts the DACA and Undocumented Student Affinity Group to connect and create community.
